On the whole, A Minecraft Movie is too ordinary to do anything worthwhile at the Hindi box-office. Flop. Opening was weak almost everywhere. The original English version has also released simultaneously.

We have fights, flights, swines, wolves, orbs, crystals, red minerals, diamonds, castles, towers, lava-cooked chicken, good people, bad people, real world, Overworld, and lots and lots of screaming.And then we have Jennifer Coolidge, doing her thing. But the question here is, how many takers this movie will have? As much as it entertains, sometimes you feel that this would have been a much better experience had it released at least a decade before. With content and cinema changing and evolving after every few months, this does not seem to be that film, which will be remembered for long. It is stuck somewhere between fun and forgettable. Having said that, there have been a lot of terrible movies in cinemas of late, so A Minecraft Movie is the less evil in the crowd. Now, take your pick!

Black’s goofy persona and Momoa’s being the butt of the jokes is entertaining. But a large part of the plotting and themes lack clarity. A few fun set pieces, can’t really offset the underlying monotony.And the complicated plotting makes it difficult to care about. The movie may fail to replicate the creativity inherent in the game but it does give the game nerds a chance to live in a substitute world as heroes.
